I know I am a bit late today, but here it is….

ELECTRIC SUNDAY!!!!

Welcome to Electric Sunday, the only day of the week where we Electrify the Piano keyboard! This week we have a track from good ol’ 1969. The Meters- Look-Ka Py Py. This is a classic song that helped create a wave of chill, laid back, Funk music. It’s cool and it makes you bob your head to the beat. The Meters are also wayyyyyy talented. Just listen to some of the drum licks. I love it when the Organ pops out of the blue and shines some light in your face: With attitude! BOO - YAH!

so here I am, sitting at home with a cup of tea and some sweet, sweet music playing in the back ground. In fact it is almost time to turn on the late night jazz playlist… I have spent the last two years studying contemporary guitar, and as much as I loved the atmosphere and some of the stuff I learnt it really did kill my desire to play and my passion to create.

Over the last couple of months I have retaught myself to play, learn and create and I am loving it, however i have no desire to return to uni, so I now find myself wondering what do I do with this passion and love for music that I have.

I know that my future has music contained within it, but to what extent? I have a desire to start a music festival in Australia similar to that of CrossRoads in America but I don’t think that is very high on the to-do list at this stage. I love creating and would love to spend the rest of my life recording and performing but want something a bit more stable. I have plenty of good songs to sell and could pursue that for a time, but I think my talents and skills lead me more toward a business management, human relations position.

Anyway that’s enough rambling for one night…
Tonight I am listening to “In Your Own Sweet Way” Dave Brubeck.

I remember seeing this car a number of years ago at the Brisbane Motor Show (in Queensland Australia) it has just such amazing lines and randomly came across these photos. It was only ever a concept vehicle, but a damn fine one. What do you think?

I have recently purchased one of these fantastic guitars at half price. It was set up for guage 9 strings, quite ridiculous really, have recently changed it to 11’s and had it set up. The set up was no where near as good as the previous job I done by Andrew Knight in Lismore, but it has done the job for now. Look forward to getting it done properly!

I heard this on the radio yesterday.

My recommendation is to listen to it rather than watch it. The camera work is rather distracting, and it might make you dizzy.

There is something about the sound of good music that makes me relax in a way that nothing else can. The flowing South American rhythms or the smooth melodies of Sophie Millman, there is nothing like the sound of good music. I’m not talking Rhianna or Britney Spears or some other teeny-bopper artist that is famous because their legs are something to be desired by people as shallow as to desire them. I’m talking about real music played by real musicians, people that know what they are doing and how to speak the language that is music. With real music and musicians being replaced by mechanical beats and crying sirens for the people that are too scared to hear their own thoughts I pray that in the years to come there will be people who are down-to-earth enough to listen and respect the true music and true art. Music is an expression not just for the enjoyment of the listener but also for the musician and the way it is interpreted will vary from person to person as Miles Davis once said “If you understood everything I say, you’d be me!”
